Today I am writing about the C1195 USB DVR kit. In layman's terms, it is a security camera system that you just plug into your computer and it's ready to go. That's correct: this system uses your computer's hard drive to store video footage. All you have to do is plug this flash card with a little antenna into your USB2 drive, and amazing things start to happen.

The C1195 has the ability to stream video footage to a remote computer or smart phone, and will even send an email alert if motion is detected by any of the four cameras. And the picture is good and secure, because the entire system is digital. That's amazing technology for a fraction of the price that a security system with remote capabilities used to cost.

Now let's talk about the cameras. The C1195 kit comes with four. They are all wireless cameras, which means you do not have to run video cable from each camera to your computer. The only wires to worry about are from an adapter to power up each camera from a local plug-in. Even more impressive for the price is that the cameras are infrared! This means they have several LEDs that make it possible to record in total darkness. These cameras are easy to mount, which also means that this super security camera kit is also portable. I hooked the entire system up in an hour, and feel certain a first-time installer could hook it up in not much more time. The camera bases attach with three sheet metal screws, and are a snap to install. Another aspect I like about the camera is each one has a double swivel ball base. This makes almost any angle possible to obtain.

Not so long ago I was asked by Big Brother to travel to a foreign country to do some covert work. I was traveling under a friendly pretense, and I knew the foreign host would be providing my lodging accommodations. So I packed the C1195 in a suitcase and threw it in the belly of the plane.

Upon arrival to the old USSR, I was offered either a hotel room or a small cabin on a lake. I opted for the cabin, knowing each offered its security challenges. I knew they would be listening to me, or worse. So I seized a prime opportunity when my hosts (three of them) staying in another cabin had to make a 45-minute trip for food. Well, I had not packed an electric drill, so I opened up my spy box and took out some removable adhesive. The cameras were small enough that it held, and I knew I would need to take the cameras down in a hurry in a few days.

I plugged in my laptop and, presto! I was in business. It took all of an hour to see one of my happy hosts sneak over and peek into my window. I saw him coming, so all was cool, but I was tempted to put on my glow-in-the-dark rubber chicken shorts, but I did not want to kill him. A little later I almost could not help laughing out loud when the cameras picked up one of them with a stethoscope pressed to the cabin wall.

So not only did the C1195 provide peace of mind under a real test, but it also provided great portability and humor. By the way, the climate was very cold, and the system held up better than expected. So I give it a high rating, providing the distance you need to see at night is not very far. A nice piece of spy equipment for a little bit of money.

Tilt TV Brackets Installations on Cement Walls

Tilt TV brackets are very popular. It is very rare you will be able to install a TV that is eye level for your viewing enjoyment. The more common location on the wall would be in a position which is high up and cannot be reached by children. The TV bracket should be attached to the wall in a sufficiently high location such that when the TV is mounted, it is beyond the reach of children. In some instances, you may even want the TV to be above the reach of most adults so they don't touch the screen or hit it accidentally. When choosing a TV wall bracket, the better option is a TV Tilt Wall Bracket. It is slightly more expensive than a fixed wall bracket but it provides more flexibility when deciding where to attach the TV brackets.

The first thing you should do when purchasing your TV wall brackets is to check the contents of the box. If you are not in a rush, you should open the box at the store in full view of the attendant. The two of you should go through the contents carefully. If the attendant is familiar with installing a TV bracket, he may even be able to give you some tips as you go through the parts. Any missing or defective parts can immediately be replaced, and it saves you the time and effort of returning to the store for the replacement parts. The normal contents in a TV wall bracket box are a large steel wall back plate, two arms that screw into the back of the TV, a full set of screws, bolts, wall plugs, washers and spacers. Some stores provide items for both cement and wood walls. You have to differentiate what items are applicable to each type of wall and determine if they are complete. If you are definite on your wall type, segregate the other items so you avoid any mix-ups during the installation. A detailed instruction manual will help guide you through the installation process.

Decide on the exact location of the TV and mark the wall in the center of where you want the screen to be. Take the wall plate and center it over the mark you placed on the wall. Use the level to make sure the bracket is straight and even. Mark the six fixing points through the TV bracket back plate onto the wall. Make sure the marks are indelible and can be easily seen. Drill the fixing holes to the required length. It may be slightly deeper than needed, but that should not cause any problem. When drilling the holes, take note if the cement was solid or loose. You can test the strength of the cement wall by using an ordinary drill and try to drill a hole through the wall. If you are able to do so, that indicates the wall is not pure cement blocks and you may need to apply some epoxy glue in the holes to strengthen the screws. You might need to drill additional holes to ensure the TV wall mount is firmly secured to the wall. Some people recommend you apply the epoxy glue regardless of the wall type. It costs slightly more and takes some time and effort to apply it but it minimizes any potential risk of the TV wall mounts being pulled out of the wall. Insert the plugs into the drill holes and fit the wall plate using the bolts included in the package. Bolt everything tightly.

Fit the arms on the flat screen. Use bolts, washers and spacers to make sure everything is tightly in place. Life the TV with the arms and mount it on the back plate. Connect the power cords and cables. You might have to do this ahead if the TV mount is flush on the wall and there is only a small space between the TV and the brackets. Tilt the TV screen to the correct angle. Sit down, relax and enjoy the TV programs.

This is, believe it or not, an implement that allows you to, yes, swivel your ceiling speakers to face whichever direction you dare please they face. If you're home alone, you can turn every last one of your speakers to face you and you only, and I promise you will have an auditory experience the likes of which you have never had - if your speaker system is a high enough quality that is.

Lastly, once you have gone ahead and installed your ceiling speakers, they may not quite sound as good as they did in the Bose Store demonstration. (Or wherever you got them from.) Don't fret. Don't panic. This is only to be expected. What I want you to do is simply devote a little time here or there to making adjustments in the bass and treble controls. Once you've made an adjustment, listen to it like that for awhile. It could be five minutes; it could be five days. Make a mental note of the positions and how you liked the sound and then change the controls again. This is the only way that I have ever found to hone in that subtle and elusive "perfect sound", but after it is all said and done you will have the joy of knowing that you're getting the maximum experience out of your home ceiling speakers.

Flat Panel TV Mount Guide

Did you just buy a new Plasma, LCD, or Flat Panel TV? Are you wondering how to hang the TV correctly? Where should I place the TV? Do you mount it to a wall or above the fireplace? LCD and Plasma TVs can be mounted in a variety of places depending on the size of the room and the room dynamics. We have divided our guide into the various rooms you may consider placing your TV. We also consider some questions you may have when mounting your plasma or lcd. Mounting a TV should be left to a professional installer or an electrician. You'll need to take into account the placement of av equipment and the proper set up for your audio and video cables. Tip: Most electrical contractors can perform basic wiring for power and av equipment.

Universal Mounts vs. Custom Mounts

Swivel Tv Mounts

It's recommended that you buy a custom mount, if a model is available, for your Plasma or LCD. Why a custom mount? It's guaranteed to fit the TV whereas universal mounts only fit 90% of the time. The custom option also makes the side and back of the TV less cluttered than a universal mount.

Consider the Studs

Plasma and LCD screens are heavy you need to make sure you have wall studs or a ceiling joist if you plan to hang the TV from the ceiling. If you have normal (16" spacing) wood studs most mounts will work properly. If however, you have 24" spacing you will need to look at mounts that have a lateral shift adjustment. Hardware kits are available or included for installations involving wood studs, metal, cinder blocks, and solid concrete.

Family Room, Bedroom, or Basement

Most LCD or Plasma TVs are mounted in a family room for recreational viewing. In this case screen sizes are normally 37" or above. Where do you want to mount the flat panel tv?
Above the Fireplace Mounting the TV above a fireplace is a good option for utilizing space in your family room. However, we would only recommend this option if you are able to sit at least 10 feet away from the TV. You should consider buying a "tilt mount", this enables you to adjust/tilt the TV to the best viewing angle. In a Corner In today's homes many family rooms are filled with windows and have limited wall space. In this case, we recommend mounting the TV in a corner of the room and use a swing arm mount to adjust the viewing angle. You can then mount the TV at a custom viewing height and swivel the TV to the best viewing position. On Opposing Wall In this case you can use a static mount or tilt mount. If you plan on mounting the TV higher than eye level then you should use a 'tilt mount' so you can adjust the viewing angle. If you plan to mount the TV at eye level, than you can use a 'static mount'. You could simulate the mounted tv by using string or masking tape on the wall and then decide which plasma or lcd mount to use. Table Top Mount If you don't have enough wall space, corner space, or a fireplace you would consider using table top mount. Many consumer Plasma's and LCD's come with a table top mount. Table top mounts are placed on top of home entertainment furniture and provide a basic mounting option. Most commercial plasma's do not include a table top mount, in this case you will need to buy a table top mount and a piece of furniture to place the plasma or LCD. Home Theater Entertainment Centers Do to the high demand of the flat panel tv market, most entertainment centers now have an optional back panel to mount a plasma or LCD tv. Remember if you mount your plasma on a wall you'll need to store your AV equipment somewhere and if you don't have a nearby storage cabinet you may need to use audio video furniture. If you are hiding your av equipment be sure to have a way of sending ir remote commands to the equipment. You can accomplish this by using an rf remote or using an extender kit.
Smaller Rooms, The Kitchen, The Exercise Room, A Den
The Kitchen The kitchen is most likely for screen sizes smaller than 20 inches. The most common mount for kitchen applications is a mount that attaches to the bottom of a cabinet. An under the cabinet mount is a great space saver, because it allows for you to flip the TV up and out of the way when it is not in use. Exercise Room or Den The exercise area or Den is good place for LCD or Plasma TV, and we recommend a tilted wall mount or an articulating mount. This is all based on the room size and placement of exercise equipment or furniture in your room.
Commercial Applications

The most common commercial applications involve a ceiling mount that can be lowered into the proper viewing height with extension columns. Buying a ceiling mount takes some thought based on the space, the drop of the mount, and a joist to connect to. We offer a variety of mounting accessories that allow for specific applications. Many restaurants and bars use plasma screens because of the wide viewing angle and brightness. In this case, a mixture of ceiling, corner, wall, and articulating mounts may need to be used.

This is a very substantial mount with Dual arms and heavy guage steel. The arms extend over 20-Inch from the wall yet fold to less than 5-Inch. Even at full extension, this mount has very little sag or twist. It is rated for up to 165lbs and most displays 55-Inch and smaller weigh under 100lbs. The unit has dual tilt adjustment knobs and it will tilt forward or back 15 degrees. The wall plate is 19-Inch wide and has wide slots making it easy to mount into standard 16-Inch studs even if they are not exactly 16-Inch apart. Thus, the arms may be visible on the sides of 32-Inch units. The universal design will fit any display with a hole pattern up to 26.3-Inch wide and 18-Inch tall. The wall plate is 1/8-Inch thick and very stable and includes a large center hole for cable pass-though into the wall. LED TV Bracket - Understanding LED TVs

The television market continually changes. This year has brought the release of the first 3D televisions on sale. This is shortly after the release of LED technology for televisions. Before discussing the available LED TV bracket and LED TV wall bracket choices one must first understand the LED television. What is it and what makes it different from your typical LCD television?

LED is a type of light which has been around for several years. The light bulb has a longer life than your typical light. The first thing we saw light emitting diodes with was Christmas lights. Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba, LG, ProScan, and Vizio have all decided to offer LED TVs. The technology has replaced the traditional fluorescent light found in LCD televisions. LEDs have two forms: a Dynamic RGB and a White Edge LED. The RGB method provides truer colours like black, white and primary colours. It has a higher dynamic and costs less. The Edge LEDs have a diffused light across the entire screen sharpening the backlight, but also causing a dimming of the picture.

As you might have guessed by now the LED technology is nothing new. The use in televisions was new and it rose in popularity rather quickly. The reason they became so popular was because most understood the LED light would last longer than fluorescent light for the backlighting. They figured it was better technology and therefore worthy of spending a little more. The downside in the popularity of LCD televisions is that the off angle viewing is poor. Even offering LED with the LCD technology has not changed this. However, LCD is still better than the plasma design because it is based off of light rather than a plasma creation which has a half life.

At the moment the LED technology has not quite reached its potential, but for those who follow the electronic industry this has not made them less popular. In 2010 more models have been released in small screen sizes. LG has over four models you can purchase as do many of the aforementioned producers of LED technology.

Now that you have an understanding of what LED televisions are and that they are being sought by the public you can look at the LED TV bracket and LED TV wall bracket available for these televisions. As a flat panel screen this TV can be tipped over and damaged if it is not correctly mounted to a wall with the TV bracket.

LED TVs are not unlike the regular LCD with fluorescent light. You can use similar TV brackets with the LED television. However, it is best to shop for an LED TV bracket or LED TV wall bracket. The reason for this is that you have the right size. You always want to have the proper bracket no matter the television you own. Therefore, you can look at the two choices you have. You have the TV bracket which is standard in how it works. It will mount your television safely to the wall or TV stand you have chosen. It will not have a lot of manoeuvrability when it comes to the tilt or swivel. It is mostly a steady wall mount for direct angles.

The second choice you have is the ultra slim bracket. The ultra slim bracket comes in two ranges: 26 to 32 inches and 37 to 65 inches. They were created for this range because up until 2010 small sized LED TVs were not being manufactured. Now you have some companies offering below 30 inches.

The ultra slim bracket is not like your typical LCD television bracket. It offers four screws for the smaller size screens, but it is in a horizontal position rather than a square. There are two silver brackets for screws and then two black brackets. You can manipulate the size a little bit on the ultra slim bracket. It is not a huge metal bracket, which makes it lighter and to some degree easier to install.

For those who require an LED TV bracket the ultra slim can be the most attractive. It will be a little more than the regular LED TV bracket which is designed like most LCD brackets. The good attribute of LED TV bracket options like the ultra slim is that it can make the TV almost flush with the wall like a picture frame.
