The tilt TV bracket is normally good enough for most people. However, the TV wall bracket only provides for a tilt angle, which means the flexibility is limited to the height level. You had to be in a straight line to the television in order to face the screen directly once it was tilted to the correct angle. You don't have the option of swinging the TV around in addition to tilting it at an angle. The cost may be slightly more but the convenience of swinging the television to the correct position compensates for the extra cost. Your choice of location is extended to other areas on the wall which may have been previously considered as impractical. With the TV bracket swivel and swing facility, you do not have to be aligned to the screen panel. You can sit to the side of the television and swing the television around to face you directly. The furniture in the room can be rearranged anytime without any effect on your viewing pleasure. However, these added features make the TV wall brackets heavier, especially for large size TVs. The extended arms have to be strong enough to carry the weight, and the wall has to be equally strong to withstand the added pressure and force exerted by the swivel TV brackets and large size television.
For relatively small televisions, such as 23 inches and lower, you will need two holes drilled into the block wall or the upright wooden studs behind the wooden wall. To ensure its sturdiness, you can drill an additional two holes. Fit wall fixers into the holes and secure the screws. Bolt the TV to the bracket using the four bolts in the kit and place it on the wall mount. This is fairly easy since the type of swivel wall brackets for these small televisions are light.
Swivel Tv Mounts
It is more difficult to install swivel TV brackets for larger televisions, such as over 23 inches. The TV bracket is fully extended and, together with the weight of the television, exerts more pressure on the wall. Manufacturers of TV wall brackets are aware of the pressure and tensile strength, and developed different models and types of brackets to handle the varying larger sizes and heavier weights. The main concern is shifted to the capability of the walls to hold the swivel TV bracket and the television. Most, if not all TV wall brackets with wide wall mounting plates can be used for brick or wooden walls. If you are installing on a brick wall and are not sure if you have Thermolite block walls, use a special block wall bolt system with epoxy glue. This approach will give you peace of mind and remove any doubts on whether the wall can hold the weight. When installing on wooden walls, screw the plate firmly on at least two upright studs, preferably three studs. Make six holes and fill them with glue to hold the screws in place. Putting additional holes may help as long as the holes are far apart and evenly spaced between each other. If the holes are too close to one another, it will weaken the structure instead of making it sturdy.
Regardless of the type of wall, be sure the back plate is level. This is critical since the TV bracket arm can be extended and swivel around, and any error can affect the stability of the television. Once completed, bolt the bracket front plate or bar system onto the back of the extendable arms. Fit the securing system to the TV. Make sure all bolts and screws are tightened, and power cords and cables are connected, before putting the TV onto the bracket front plate. You can now adjust the screen swiveling and tilting it to the desired position for optimum viewing pleasure.
